it’s been a great ride to 50 releases, and we ain’t gonna stop now !

Over the years, Kinjo has built a name on releasing quality underground house music, while mostly remaining faithful to a funkier sound, there are outlets of other sub genres including jazzy, and tech flavored deep house. December marks six years in this labour of love. With an impressive list of artists and remixers including: JT Donaldson, Kinky Movement, Giom, Real Time Hand Motion, Hector Moralez, Joshua Heath, Drop Out Orchestra, The House Inspectors, Neighbour, The Littlemen, Husky (Random Soul), Jason Hodges, Katzuma, Jeff Dougler & Balu, Leon Louder, Joss Moog, and Kinjo’s Creator-Dave Allison.

Kinjo has counted numerous supporters over the years and rest assured- More quality is on the way in 2013..

Italian Disco Band Katzuma premier for Kinjo’s very first Vinyl release.
47 releases on and nearly five years , good things have just gotten better and therefore I’m happy to present Katzuma’s “Life in the City” EP. 3 tasty and original works ready for some dancefloor approval.
Life in the City works off some great Piano Chords, Bouncy Bassline, Smooth strings and funky guitar riffs.
A touch of Dubbed out vocals and Tight Beats, this is a surefire winner. The Second cut drops the tempo, features some shifty percussion grooves and lets you know “Music is Made for Love” . Finally “Stooned” a more straight up house cut , has a playful and bubbly (yeah like bong water) groove.
This Very Limited Wax release is coming out soon.

Nice guy Dave Allison and his Kinjo Music label have been doing it properly for five years and 40+ releases! I believe he’s picked the right producers and the right EP to jump into his first “disc o’ vinyl” with Katzuma and the “Life In the City” EP! Katzuma has proven to me that the great Italian city of Bologna has a lot more than great food to offer! Chico MD and Tony T are coming off some success with their disco-infused Headcuts #1 & 2 EPs this past year. The hits keep coming for them with this new EP as well. From the opening whistle (seriously… it took me back to Second Story & Catacombs in late ‘70s Philly!!), the title track, Life In the City”, is my favorite cut. Running along “happily” at a mid-tempo 120 bpm, it’s sparse, dubby vocals give you just enough spaciness to satisfy the early, late, retro, or “house” crowds and the massive guitar will boogie yo’ ass! “Music is Made For Love”… YES IT IS! At a funky 111 bpm with a loopy instrumental hook and that sample that kept Smokey Robinson… Cruisin’, it is hit number two on the EP. Finally, but not last, “Stooned” is sparse but definitely grooves into some areas of disco “madness” without you needing to actually be stoned! It has a repetitive chant that does not seem that way as you chug along on this soul train at 115 bpm. Whether you live in one or not, your “life in the city” will be a great one with Katzuma and Kinjo!
